I got the inspiration for this card from this one I saw on Pinterest. I needed Halloween cards for Send a Smile 4 Kids, and thought this fit the bill wonderfully.
I die cut the base of the cauldron with a circle die, & cut a bit off the bottom to make a straight edge. I die cut an oval from scratch paper, and modified the shape to make a pattern for the rim of the cauldron. I used a smaller oval die to cut a black piece for the "inside" on top of the cauldron.
I used 1/2", 3/4", & 1" circle punches to punch the bubbles from green cardstock. I also cut a panel from the same green to go inside for a message. I glued the bubbles in place along the top of the green panel, popping the front ones up on foam squares to make it easier for them to slip over the cauldron's rim.
I cut a slit in the top of the cauldron for the message panel to slide in & out of. I created a second base piece for the cauldron, & adhered it to the back, making sure not to add adhesive where the panel would slip in.
I punched three 3/4" circles from black cardstock for the spider's body. I glued them together, and glued that to my cauldron. I used a black pen to add legs & the spider line, added shimmer to the spider's body with a clear Wink of Stella pen, & glued on googly eyes. I used the same black pen to draw in some spider webs as well.
I stamped "boo brew" onto a strip of lavender cardstock, & adhered it sticking out from under the cauldron's rim, which I'd adhered with foam tape. Finally, I used a white gel pen to add highlights to the bubbles, & wrote "pull" with an arrow to one of the bubbles. Since the card doesn't really open, I added a small cardstock piece to the back to act as an easel, so the card will stand up. I absolutely love how this card came out! Hopefully whatever child gets it will love it, too.
