My daughter-in-law had a birthday in mid-August, and I didn't get her card posted to SCS. Here's a bit of card story.... My son built her a backyard fish pond a few years ago, so I thought a card using the new Stampin' Up Seascape stamps and Sea Life dies with the koi-style fish would make a great card! I borrowed colors from Luci Kirschbaum's Sea Life card I saw several months ago, plus some of her design, but I wanted more depth, color, and texture in my card. I changed up the fish and bubble layout, added a gold foil wonky stitched die-cut layer, and fussy-cut and slightly offset grassy overlays.
In my Challenge Catch-up cardmaking, I was able to find 11 challenges to apply to my card design as listed below:
1) WT857 - Ways to Use It Challenge/ Home Sweet Home - 8/12/21...find something in your home to inspire your card. Let us know what it is. Is your backyard part of your home...and can your inspiration be something in the card recipient's backyard? Hope so...I'm branching out and going for it!
2) AOCC21 - All Occasions Card Challenge/ August - 8/1/21. A female birthday card needed.
3) USEIT2021 - Use It Challenge/ August - 8/1/2021. This is an ongoing/ annual challenge requiring you to use old, long unused items gathering dust AND/OR old/ new items purchased but seemingly forgotten...never opened or used! My OLD/NEW item(s): Peaceful Moments sentiment stamps bought in April 2020 and finally opened/ used; Seascape stamps dies bought in April 2021 and finally opened/ used; Stitched So Sweetly dies bought in May 2020...the sentiment die used for first time.
4) FS755 - Featured Stamper/ Karen's Lovely Gallery (aka ksenzak1) - 7/25/21. I found this card of Karen's to CASE: Sparkly Fish Birthday! I kept the stamped schools of fish, the Jade Green color, bubbles and die-cut small fish and koi-goldfish, but used a different layout for the items. I did not use the red or orange fish colors or the diorama dies. I changed my sentiment die-cut, stamp, and location.
5) IC812 - Inspiration Challenge/ Surfboard Art Pinterest Board - 6/26/21...pick your favorite picture design and be inspired by its theme, design, color, etc. I was inspired by this fish art work: Pintura Prancha de Surf by Carol Esteves.
6) F4A587 - Free 4 All Challenge/ Sea Life - 5/21/21...let's do cards about eoesea lifee ...fish, crocodiles, turtles, shark, etc. My "sea" fish are found in a backyard pond!
7) S2S21MAR - Stamp 2 Save (aka Stamp 2 Support One Another)/ Pets - 3/2/21. Feature pets and/or all domestic animals...horses, calves, goats, etc. Featuring my daughter-in-law's fish in her backyard pond as this card is for her birthday! The fishies are part of her menagerie of pets! Hope it didn't have to be a mammal!
MMTPT655 - Teapot Challenge/ ZEN Attitude - 2/9/21. Making my card look Zen...what could bring on a relaxed Zen attitude better and faster than sitting by a fish pond, dappling your fingers in the water while watching the fish swim peacefully within.
9) ABC13U21 - Alphabet Challenge/ Letter "U" - 8/19/20. For my card, letter U = Underwater scene.
10) WORD0819 - Fan Club Monthly Theme--September 2019/ Contain Yourself! - 5/17/19. My card is for the WORD challenge. The word is: HOLD, and my elements used are: H=Happy birthday sentiment; O=overlay grasses; L=layered elements and mats; D=die-cuts. My card meets the theme interpretation as it depicts a pond that "holds" my fishies.
11) MIX281 - Mix-ability Challenge/ Something's Fishy - 6/15/18. Ideas: add texture like scales, water, fish, or fishing scene. My mediums are: three stamping inks, printer ink, plastic gems.
Ingredients: Stampin' Up products: Cardstock--Mint Macaron, Just Jade, Bumblebee, Gold Foil, Very Vanilla. Stamps--Seascape, Peaceful Moments (sentiment). Dies--Sea Life, Stitched So Sweetly (sentiment). Ink--Mint Macaron (fish/ bubbles), Tranquil Tide (grasses--stamped off, sentiment). Genial Gems--mint macaron, pale papaya. Other: EK Punch--Victorian Corners. Reverse Confetti--All Framed Up Confetti Dies.

Beautiful birthday card for your DIL. How wonderful that her fish pond inspired the design. I imagine she loved it! Amazing scene. Fabulous colors and die-cuts. Wow, you have an impressive list of challenges and your card fits each one so perfectly. Well done!

I couldn't agree more that watching fish gently floating in a pond or aquarium is very Zen. Love the deep blue-green of your bg. Wonderful fish dies and, although I know it's suppose to be your DIL's pond, your wonky frame does remind me of an aquarium. A lovely, peaceful card.

This is a WOW! card with all the amazing elements. Your scene is fantastic with the movement of the schools of fish in all different sizes. You can tell it was made from the heart. TFS
