This week we are sending lighthouses to Debbie, the guest of honor at our Tea Party. Debbie is also a math teacher so we are adding numbers here and there too. I knew you guys would rock the gorgeous, idyllic, scenic, classic lighthouse, so I thought I would try for a bit of levity. And, hey, this is Anne's (aka jdmommy) family...Debbie probably doesn't know that not all cards are humorous.
So, my card's story. Mr. Mermaid is teaching a math class by the glow of the lighthouse beacon at the Night School of Fishes. Mrs. Mermaid, however, is not impressed and shouts at him to turn the damn light off...she needs her beauty sleep.
To start, I printed the lighthouse in blue onto blue paper. I was hoping it would look night-ish. I stenciled some rays to mimic the light from the beacon and added a single drop of stickles onto the beacon so it would look lit. Die cut the sloping edge. On a white cs, ink blended the DOX and then die cut the waves. Reglued everything together and onto a card base and added the lighthouse scene on top. Stamped, colored and die cut the mermaids, seaweed, fish, etc. For the school of fish, I found some algebraic formulae on line and randomly printed on cs Stamped and colored the fish onto it. Cut into a shape that might kinda resemble a room with a roof and ink blended over that to soften the white. Glued everything into place. The speech bubble was a random google search digi and the sentiment was typed with Comic Sans font.
Omigosh, it's tough breaking a bone much less two and bones take quite awhile to heal. So I hope Debbie will feel transported to the Coast of Maine with all the wonderful cards you are sending her way and I hope you are transported to your happy place today, too. TFL

Fabulous! I love your teaching math pops and mom needing her beauty sleep. Great rays of light from your lighthouse too!
Awesome card- I searched and searched for a funny sentiment! LOL
Your card had me LOLing - this is hilarious! I enjoyed reading your write-up and your card is definitely a fresh take on lighthouses, I love it! I suppose they get their school supplies from Of-fish Depot? (sorry, couldn't help it, LOL) Anyway, this card is simply inspired and will surely lift Debbie's spirits!

Fantastic! Love the scene, the storyline, and the way you achieved this awesome design. The layering, the fussy cutting, all made your work receive an A+

LOL - the humor is fantastic and I can relate as I had a house that backed up on a sports field years ago and YEP those lights always shined right into my bedroom!!!
