The Ways to Use it Challenge - WT861 - Celebrate With Balloons- 9/9/2021, was to use at least one balloon on your project and extra points if it was a birthday card.
I have been intending to use this cute bunny stamp created by Anita Jerum for Colorado Craft Co, and this challenge was the nudge button to I needed.
I stamped and die cut the bunny image before starting watercoloring, and then temporarily mounted the diecut to scrap paper with dot runner tape on the back. (I did not want to take the chance of flubbing up diecutting a perfectly colored imageâ¦.yes, I have done this! That is a story for another day. Haâ¦)
I smooshed Distress Ink onto acrylic blocks for a palette, and spritzed with water to dilute when needed. I used a regular watercolor brush rather than aqua brush to allow me to have more control where the ink flowed.
Creating the sentiment tag about drove me nuts! I stamped the sentiment several times and die cut using different tag diesâ¦all of them looked clunky and overpowering. In desperation I went old-school and used scissors to fussy cut the tag, then used a finger to lightly apply distress ink on the rim of the tag.
I waffled on whether to add a black panel in back of the green Woodgrain paper, and ended up compromising by having black cs on two corners. What do you think? Should I have used a full black panel? Should I have ditched the black all together?
Thanks for taking the time to look at my bunny balloon birthday card. And if you take the time to weigh in on my question about the black panel/corners, I really appreciate it!
Happy Birthday to all the stampers with September birthdays!

I adore this fun bunny with his balloon. So much so that I have it in my possession but have not brought him out to play yet. I think the two black corners really were the way to go. Good waffling, Susy! Excellent fussy cutting on that sentiment too and I love this card in the square shape. Love the lime background too with that pop of a pink balloon! Pure fun to see this today!

Susy, I love this line of stamps and your CAS card is adorable. I LOVE the black corners peeking out from the pretty green panel. You have colored this darling image up beautifully, lucky recipient!
