It's Teapot Tickle time! Sue is our hostess and she has challenged us to make cards remembering Princess Diana, who died 24 years ago today. I was one year old when Diana married Prince Charles, so I obviously don't remember that. Nor would I have cared anyway. I just don't get the fascination with the Royal Family. But Princess Di was a fixture of my childhood--ever present on all the magazine covers at the grocery store. So I still remember that morning, during the summer before my senior year of high school, that I walked into the kitchen to make my morning tea and saw the newspaper on the kitchen table with the headline that Princess Di had been killed in a car crash. Like I said, I don't remember much about her at all, but she was such an icon that the moment I read about her death is permanently etched into my memory. Thinking about it right now, it doesn't seem so long ago, but remember the days when you would actually find out the news by reading the newspaper?
That's why I went with newspaper on my card. Sue tells us that Princess Di loved forget me nots, so I went with the forget me not theme and the "forever in our hearts" sentiment.

A lovely remembrance of Diana. I like how you used the newspaper and why you used it. I remember when she got married and they did a big spread in Life magazine (you prob don't know Life) and my mom had to buy it to see all the dresses. This is a pretty card for our royal challenge ;)

Fabulous design. Love how your images incorporate so many memories -- to me that is the most special part of a card. And those two ladybugs (Lady Di?) are icing on the cake. Awesome coloring. Awesome card.

Beautiful card in honor of Princess Diana. I remember her wedding I was glued to the TV as she was so beautiful and it was history in the making. I remember being glued to the tv the night of her death too. I just could not believe it and was in shock and so sad to learn of her passing.
Fabulous card, Jen! Love the beautifully colored forget-me-nots against the newspaper bg, sentiment is spot on, too! I was in high school when Princess Di and Prince Charles had their wedding, and a busy mom of two when she passed away. My sister is a huge fan, so I would often think of my sister whenever Lady Di is mentioned.

Like you, I'm not all that into "the Royals" but yes there are some things that will stick with us. I think your sentiment would be considered perfect by all Princess Di's admirers and I love the newspaper reference.

A lovely card with the pretty forget me nots and I love how you used newsprint for the bg, so apt! This is also the perfect sentiment! I still remember hearing the sad news of her death, Jen, it was about midday here and we first heard she had survived the car accident, shortly after the sad news she had died. She had quite a sad life. Her 2 boys were about the same age as my 2 boys, she really did love them~

I like your thinking behind this with the newspaper, great idea. And the contrast of the sweet little ladybirds with your beautiful forget-me-nots is fab. I remember hearing the news on the radio when I was awake in the night. Same with 9/11, it was radio for me then and still is now . The DOX panel with the water splashes is beautiful.
