Todays Clean & Simple Challenge (CAS650 - Summer Gingham - 8/9/2021), was to create a summer card with gingham.
In my scrap pile I found a leftover strip of stamped red ginghamâ¦.two reasons it was leftover - it was a 2nd generation stamping using SU Real Red and it looked pink rather than red (ugh) and a good portion of the stamped image was mucked up (double ugh)! Fortunately, I was able to salvage a strip large enough for this card. Whew!
I watercolored the bumblebee & clover image using SU inks smooshed onto an acrylic block and WC with an aqua brush. By doing this I was able to dilute the intense SU Real Red ink to a faded out pink so that it coordinated with the 2nd generator stamped gingham panel.
To add an extra country vibe, I added a layer of recycled brown paper bag in back of the bee panel and wispy knot of shredded out SU Linen thread tucked under the sentiment tag.
By the way, what do you think of the fun font in the sentiment? I had to have this set when I spotted the sweet hearts that are incorporated in the script! Itâs a new to me stamp set by My Creative Time called Im Rooting For You.
Thanks for buzzing by and taking a peek at my Bumblebee & Clover card. Enjoy the remaking lazy days of summer!

This whole card is just spectacular, Susy! Never throw anything away! That strip of faded looking gingham made the perfect country card! Kudos on the matching watercoloring. I love everything about this, and, yes, definitely the font of that sentiment!

This is such a sweet summery card! i love the clover in the image and the bees. I see that along the roads all the time in the summer here. Great design with the kraft layer the woodgrain EF and the gingham.
