This snarky cat just makes me chuckle. It's probably why I had to buy this stamp set during last year's SSS Stamptember event, even though Tim Holtz isn't really my style. But, hey, since I decided to take a dip outside of my comfort zone, I might as well go all out while I'm there - stamps, colors, technique - right?
I got my inspiration from this cutie from Shari Carroll. I loved her idea of having him perched atop a stack of packages, so I knew I wanted to include that in my card. From that point on, however, I did my own thing, changing up colors, losing the second cat, and opting for a modified mini-slimline card layout.
I started by stamping everything on an 8" x 3.25" panel. With all the masking, I didn't want to get finished, only to find that everything was either up too high, or down too low. With the stamping complete, I used tape on the clear packaging to mark off a height of 5 5/8". Then I just moved my panel up and down until it was positioned where I wanted it. I made marks where the tape was and cut my focal panel to its finished size.
I colored everything using Copic markers. I then remasked the images prior to doing my ink blending. I used Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, and Walnut Stain Distress Oxides. I removed the masks and heat set. When dry, I remasked and stamped the snowflakes in Antique Linen. I also stamped my sentiment again to make it bold again (the DOXs make it chalky).
To distress, I flicked some water on the focal panel and used the rougher side of a nail buffer to rough up the corners and edges.
I wanted a little dimension, so I cut a scrap of kraft card stock to put behind my focal panel then matted to a panel of SU Chocolate Chip card stock. I adhered a panel of Bazzill (Blank Check, Bling) to my card base and added my matted focal panel.
I finished things off by using a white gel pen to decorate 2 of the packages, used a clear glitter pen on the lights and added Glossy Accents to the lights.
Inside sentiment: Meowy Christmas
Thanks for looking!

Agh! This is soooo cute! I love that set by TH. I didn't end up buying it but I wanted to! I love how you colored him and gave him a blush. I think he is a bit embarrassed at getting tangled up!
