It was a struggle to not make this sailboat look like a third grader painted it. But I'm thinking this is solid fifth grade quality here. This was the better version of the two I made. Here is the other one. The sails are much flatter in that version. I thought I got some good movement and shape in this one. I did have an incident with the top of the sail, though. The color just kept running no matter how much I tried to fix it. I solved that with some strategic sentiment placement.
This also works for today's Challenge Your Stash Challenge. Vickie is our hostess and she has chosen watercolor as our challenge. She said we can do a little or a lot of watercolor. Clearly, I went for a lot!

I think your sailboat is way above 5th grade. You always give me a laugh. Your sails look as if they could be flapping in the breeze. And, I love your water and the rest of your scene.

Jen this is beautiful....love how original it is with the choice of color. I always consider the Wednesday challenges as a learning experience. You have taught me, with the addition of your other painting how you got the dimension on the sails. It is so much easier to see the difference when you see both of them. Wonderful job, and thanks for sharing.

Jen, I adore this wonderful scene! The sailboat does look like it's racing in the wind, and how clever of you to place the greeting where it completely camouflages the runny paint. I am so impressed with your talent!

The shape of your boat is super and as to "the incident" - really your gray shadows seques quite nicely into the aqua making it look like more shadowing in the upper furls of mainsail. I understand though - we are always our own worst critics. I love that you left this one strictly watercolor - you need to do that more often !!!
