Hello and welcome to this weekâs Color Challenge. Mary, our host, has chosen some really festive colors for us. These colors are: Cherry Cobbler, Shaded Spruce, and Gold. âChristmas in Julyâ for dessert. Itâs nice to get an early start on those Christmas Cards!
My card was made using one of my favorite Tim Holtz dies. It features an adorable feathered cardinal. After the cardinal image was die cut, I blended a bit of Bam Door Distress Ink around its body for shading. Then the image was mounted in a gold frame along with die cut branches.
I created the background using a Hero Arts stencil and Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink. To finish things off, I added a CZ Design sentiment strip.
It was a pleasure creating this card and I hope you have fun creating yours too.

Beautifully done! Love this cardinal die and I almost used it for this challenge. The way you used the gold in the frame is such a perfect way to showcase the beautiful bird. A perfect holiday card that anyone would just love to receive!

Lovely card, Marianne! I miss seeing cardinals--we don't have them in the Seattle area. The way you've placed your cardinal inside the pretty gold frame, with the foliage behind it--it's very artistic and beautiful!

The cardinal is a year round bird in my part of town but I especially enjoy them in the winter. Your beautifully framed bird is delightful! I love the patterned background and your little dots of red. The way you did the sentiment is eye catching and works wonderfully!

Marianne your cardinal is a beautiful way to show off the Cherry Cobbler, wish I would have thought of it! The gold frame and his beak are the perfect accent too! (You've gotta' love that beak) Marianne you always do such a beautiful job of designing! Well done, my friend!
