Welcome to Fall! This challenge card was made for a sketch challenge that also asked that we use lots of pattern papers.
I thought this was a perfect opportunity to use up some of my old Stampin' Up! (SU) Designer Series Paper (DSP) scraps. I dug into my stash and found the great 2014 "Motley Monsters" papers. So my card quickly took on a Halloween theme!
The ghost paper is 4"x 5-1/4" glued to a SU Soft Suede card base. All the other papers are scraps from the same pack of pattern paper (it's nice that SU color coordinates their paper patterns in each pack). I cut varying widths of 4" long strips and started gluing them from the center out toward the top and bottom of the card. I recommend that you do this BEFORE you glue your ghost panel onto the card base so that trimming your strips is easy.
One of the papers in this pack had a bottom border of fun monsters and friends. I chose the child Dracula and the owl sitting on a pumpkin to scan and cut out on my digital cutting machine. After I cut out the image, I cut three more blank pieces that I glued onto the back of the image to give depth and dimension.
I glued this stacked image on on a 2-3/8" stitched circle (which I first stamped with the "Boo!" using black ink. I then mounted the circle onto the front using foam tape.
The sketch called for a shaped die cut overlapping the circle, so I used one of the smaller dies from a Sizzix Regal Flip-its die set to cut out another "Boo!" I stamped on a scrap piece of white cardstock.
The brown button was added with foam tape overlapping both the circle and the die cut shape.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "3" because of the need to cut out the images. The rest of the card is very easy.
