Jeanne is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and our dessert option for the month is Christmas in July. Jeanne's palette this week seemed perfect for a poinsettia card: Rococo Rose, Evening Evergreen, and Mint Macaron.
I think this Tim Holtz set is my favorite poinsettia image, plus the set comes with stamps to add music, script handwriting, a greeting and a swirl, along with some splatter drops. And I used them all!
I stamped the poinsettia image with VersaMark ink onto watercolor paper and heat embossed in gold. Then I used reinkers in this week's colors to watercolor the flower and leaves. When it was dry, I fussy cut it out.
Meanwhile, I started with a piece of confetti cream (long retired) cardstock, stamped the music in Evening Evergreen, and the swirl and the script in Mint Macaron. I stamped the greeting and some of the splashes in VersaMark and then heat embossed in gold. Used a blending brush to add some Evening Evergreen ink to the edges.
I mounted this layer onto a Rococo Rose card base with foam tape, then more foam tape to mount the poinsettia. I could not bear to cut off the petals that extend over the edge, so this card will be mailed in an oversized envelope!
I am loving getting a start on this year's cards, and I hope you are, too! Come join us and make a card with this week's colors and share it in the gallery!
