Initially I intended to have the rocket image directly on the upper panel. I also had a moon & several stars as part of the image. After I sized the image, I printed it onto a panel of watercolor paper. As I looked at it, though, all I could think about was how I could paint the sky around all the tiny stars & the moon, and make it look good! So I changed course slightly. I painted the rocket, then fussy cut it. I used metallic watercolors to go over the flame & paint the fins, the part where the flame comes out, & silver accents on the rocket.
I used watercolors to paint a galaxy background on another panel of watercolor paper. After that dried, I blended Black Soot ink over the whole panel. I used more metallic watercolors to spatter stars. Finally, I glued my rocket in place.
I printed the greeting (from the same digi set) onto a strip of teal blue cardstock. I cut 2 chevron shapes from hot pink & yellow, and glued them to the strip. I thought the way the point in the opposite direction as the rocket sets up kind of a circular-moving design. I added the bottom strip to my white card base, & then adhered the image panel to the top.
