Today's challenge is to paint a somewhat whimsical, slightly abstract rainbow octopus. that inspired the challenge. For me, just the mention of the word abstract or fantasy early in a tutorial takes off all the pressure so I can really let my mojo flow.
I lightly sketched my octopus shape then just started layering in all kinds of happy rainbow bright watercolors, painting a tentacle at a time. ( I have to add here that I was having so much fun sketching wavy, curly lines that I found myself wishing an octopus had MORE appendages!) I actually remembered to add splatters today and miracle of miracles they fell off my brush!. When it was all dry did a super light wash of aqua blue to simulate water. Drew a narrow aqua edge to frame and added my own hand-lettered sentiment. I hope you all let your inner child out to play and have as much fun with this as I did!

Wow! Linda, this is one fabulous octopus. I love all the awesome colors (that was so fun for me to do lots of colors) and the eyes are fabulous. Wonderful splatters, also. Thanks for choosing such a fun and colorful challenge this week. You did good!!!! Oh, and the head shape is perfect.
Love your perfect sentiment.

I couldn't believe you made me draw an octopus this week! So many "legs". I can't say I want to do it again, but I survived. I did enjoy using ALL the colors after your white on white challenge. I guess it's "Bubbles Week" here at SCS :0)
Love your loose, happy, colorful card!
