This card is for this week's Teapot Party and is going to John who needs a pick me up and some smiles.
I'm also posting it against the Technique challenge and also the Alpha challenge as both are to do with faux techniques this week.
I had fun creating this and my DH laughed at the joke on the front which I found on the net, so I hope that it brings a smile to John's face too.
After embossing the foil paper, I swiped black inks across it and finally added several waxes. This technique makes some great metal BGs and especially for masculine cards. I like to think of my BG as a metal door into a home.
I wanted to do something to do with architecture as John is an architect and found these quirky Dylusions houses in my stash. Fussy cut them and also the pyramid out of one of my sticker books.
Found John's name in a TH sticker book and decided to personalise the card. Added the paper doll sitting on one of the roofs. Wrote the joke and plonked my panel onto a distressed piece of green CS and done.
TFL. Happy day

Gosh, Jayne, beautiful background. Even without tape you really got the effect of the panels. I'm trying to think if I have that ef, or if I decided that for the amount of times I'd use it, I'd make my own background. Great joke, love the rainbow houses.

Jayne wow, I love it all but that BG is amazing, it really looks like metal with rivets, I love the joke too and the rainbow house with John sat there, great work Jayne

Everything about this is wonderful and so perfect for John the architect! Your little "joke" cracks me up....love it and your use of the textured metal tape is amazing!! I predict they'll both be very impressed at your creation!

The faux metal panel is phenomenal! love the variation of colors which really add to the interest. Lucky you to find architect humor on the net - I searched and came up with nothing so wrote my own sarcastic humor. I like the rainbow of "pick me up" colors on the row of houses.

Oh, Jayne! John is going to be so completely wowed by this stellar work of heart! He's sleeping at the moment and I cannot decide... should I show it now or wait for the real deal? I tried this technique, spent lots of time, and couldn't get it past the elementary stage. You knocked it out of the park! I love all the beautiful shades of metal, the layout of the colorful town and placement of that confident man. The joke is awesome and reminds me of one he used to say, during an 8 year project, "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time." Thank you for this beyond special, fun and frameable hug.

Adding my 'WOW" here. The faux metal bg is phenomenal. I don't know how you achieved all those nuances of colors and shading but it does like real metal. Love, love, love everything about your design and layout and especially your joke and rainbow colors on the houses. Nothing "faux" about this card -- it's the real deal to make John laugh. Awesome card.
