I'd had quite enough trouble with paper sticking to my gel plate when I was trying out alcohol inks the other day, thank you very much, so I went with a base coat of gesso on a book page.
I've had the hollyhock dies sitting in my "use me" box since Christmas, so it made sense to find a garden-feeling die and make a background I could use them, so I used a green and blue acrylic, added the stencil while the paint was wet, and lifted it with a baby wipe.
While this was drying, I dyed some muslin with Brusho Gamboge, and used a couple of pinks and gold alcohol ink on photo paper to cut the hollyhocks. The centres are Enamel Accents, sprinkled with a little glitter before it dried, but I'm not sure if you can see that.
I stuck the muslin to the base, leaving the left edge unstuck till I got the white frame stuck down. Added some gold Stickles dabbed onto it here and there, and tucked the hollyhocks underneath. The snail was stamped on kraft and again on an odd scrap, his shell is glazed with Glossy Accents. I finished off with a LOTV sentiment.

You got a beautiful result using the gesso! I love the stencil design. And your hollyhocks are so vibrant, a wonderful contrast to your green bg. That muslin was an inspired touch to use with your snail.....love it all!! Thanks for playing along!

Wow this is gorgeous. When I first looked I thought the cheesecloth was wood. It looks so realistic. I love the gold stickles on the cloth. So much yumminess. Love it. TFS. Happy day

Sabrina, what a rich mixed media work you brought the MIX. The stencil work is beautiful. As well as the color balance. Those hollyhocks are amazing...I can see the shine of the finish. And that snail...you've got the glimmer on the shell. Awesome, awesome card.

Your card is beautifully done, Sabrina! The reverse stencilled bg looks wonderful behind the pretty hollyhocks, great colours, and I just love the piece of muslin and the snail to complete the card!
