This card is for Sabrinaâe(TM)s Metal Faux Tape Challenge and also for the Alpha Challenge F = Faux anything.
I had such fun creating this and love the texture and effect. Initially I thought I would have to use aluminium foil but when I was searching through my speciality papers I came across a pack of Tim Holtz foil paper. Not sure when I purchased it but Iâe(TM)m glad I did.
I decided to emboss the paper first using one of THâe(TM)s grunge EFs. Added the drywall tape and die cut the sentiment out of the foil stacking it up using a few die cuts.
Instead of using acrylic paints as per the tutorial, I ran with some Dylusions paints and shimmer sprays and also swiped some of my various black inks across the foil. Several coloured waxes were then rubbed onto the card to give it a grunge/metallic look.
I shall definitely try this technique again. In fact I had such fun that I started another oneâe¦still in progress.

I'm so glad to see this, as I saw that you'd have to use tin foil, yay on finding the unexpected!!!!! I don't remember buying my foil tape either but I knew I had, just had to find it. Excellent use of the foil, what a cool birthday card. Someone will be impressed!

I'm glad you had such fun with this, Jayne. Obviously this is a birthday card, but don't you think that with a spider added somewhere, it would be a perfect Halloween birthday? The wrinkles and the mesh somehow give it a real crypt look to me. Do the sprays take on the metal surface? If they do, I might try my Brusho ones, because they're definitely acrylic and not water based.

Jayne you are really making some gorgeous cards, I love this one, so much texture I keep going back to look for more things I’ve missed.
Love the raised sentiment, I might have to try this for my son’s birthday.
