Kia has given us a very informative video this week. The artist shows some various ways to create texture to a painting. I watched the video four times and finally was brave enough to try it. It is easier than it seems at first. Did practice sketching and painting the bee before doing this painting. Once we get the confidence we can do it, it goes much smoother. Did the daisy with freehand painting, and then sketched the bee. Like how he used the end tip of his brush handle to create fur. Created the background last, not as he did in the video. Changed his thistle to a daisy. Come join us here is the link to the video.

Fabulous bee and I love his fur. He looks just perfect atop that beautiful flower you painted.

I agree with you, adding fur with the back of the paintbrush was such a cool tip! Interestingly, when I tried my first painting on my cheap paper, I achieved lovely fur with the back of my paintbrush but when I used my expensive paper the paint dried too quickly. According to Emma's video, it should have been the opposite. The good paper shouldn't have dried quicker. Watercolor is such a fascinating medium! Your bee looks amazing! Your painting is so gorgeous! I love the soft background you gave your painting. Beautiful!

So glad I looked back over the gallery as somehow I missed commenting on this earlier . . . .You bee looks fantastic splayed over the center of that white daisy and I have been admiring all the colors you have tapped in to give us a "white" flower. Cool that you added the whole garden in the misty bg and I am catching bits of previous challenges (WCW045 especially) in your technique. Fabulous results . . . .Way to go, my friend!
