So I have included this card in the May Fan Club theme category as one of the ideas of interpretation is family stories. The following is a true story.
My husband and I have always camped or backpacked so it was only natural that we would continue this tradition as our family grew. We have made so many memories out in the woods! On one occasion we camped with friends. They came over to our site for a campfire one evening and made s'mores. Our daughter, about four at the time, tossed a marshmallow into the fire. Just for fun. The visitor looked at Elisabeth and sternly said, "Elisabeth, we don't throw marshmallows in the fire!" Well her little face just fell and tears popped into her eyes. Thankfully, my husband happened to hear the conversation and he said, "Susie, (name has been changed to protect the identity of the camper) actually we do!" And then he proceeded to tell her that we don't actually eat marshmallows out camping but they make fascinating sculptures in the fire as they rise and twist from the heat. It's great entertainment and much easier on your teeth! So there is our family story that is retold, pretty much every time we camp or sit around a fire!
The next best thing to tossing marshmallows in the fire is to make them out of paper!! I love this s'mores set. More on this blog postand scroll down.
