Anniversary Tower Card - Front View
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: donnaks

This card was made for a challenge that required an anniversary card that included flowers and butterflies.

This particular card is a fun fold called a "Tower Fold" since it stands on it's own and appears as a tower with "5 stories". It's made using a single piece of heavy cardstock for the base. There's a great Splitcoaststampers tutorial at: Tower Fold Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers

Be sure and use the heavy cardstock for your base so the card isn't too flimsy. I used Stampin' Up! (SU) "Magnolia Lane" designer series paper (DSP) for the panels, and matted each strip with a pale pink to match the blossoms. With all the floral pattern, I wanted the butterfly to fit into the color family, but be distinctive enough to stand out. I chose a butterfly from the SU "Beautiful Butterfly" paper that had orangish pinks and light purple, and fussy cut it out with a paper snips. It is glued down to the card front only along the body so the wings would be free to add dimension to the card front.

The back of the card is decorated, too. So it looks nice from both sides with room to write your personal greeting on the back.

I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "4" out of a possible "5" because of the need to take care when making your "mountain" and "valley" folds so the card stands correctly. I'll admit that this was my second card using this fold, and I folded it backwards this time!!! The horizontal pattern panels give the front stiffness to keep it stable, and it folds up to fit in a standard A2 envelope (4-1/2"x 5-1/2").

I think it makes for a very pretty anniversary card.
