Thanks to the MIX432 - 5x7 this week, I had a large canvas to work a 'remembery' card for the
MMTPT667 - May 4, 2021 - A Daughter's Love, hosted by Polly (peeps321)...type that again fast! Our cards are going to one of our own, Hotwheels (Linda) in memory of her Mom.
I love to work on larger scale projects and it was fun to have the 'extra space'. I constructed the Brushstroke flowers first. They were altered as well, with chalks around the edges of the blossoms, script stamped at various petals and embossed with Ranger 'Detail Clear'. I used a few random bits of DP for other blooms and leaves. The paper was part of a very old 7Gypsies DP 'Conservatory'. I had to paper piece the edges as it was smaller than my 'canvas'. Tore the left edge with has the lovely script and a tiny bird.
Stamped the unknown hand image directly to the DP. I added a gem brad for a cufflink. The finger is pointing to the lovely Gandi quote:
There are no goodbyes for us.
Wherever you are,
you will always be
in my heart.
This speaks such truth. I lost my mother in my '20's. You never get over it, but life moves on. I was blessed to have what I came to call the mother of my spirit. I always said, I believe God sent her at the perfect time. I wish for Linda to feel peace this Mother's Day...for there are truly no goodbyes, just look inside your heart.
I appreciate our challenge hostesses very much, you inspire and encourage me daily to advance my HE{art}. I'd be honored if you shared a memory of your mom with me...

Oh good, I'm first. My memory of my Mom...there are many but what I'd like to recall is how she spent her summers with us up at our lake cottage, allowing us to ramble and be free range, do pretty much what we liked, all the while trusting us to be safe. She didn't know how to swim but she let us swim to our hearts content and be out in boats fishing. I'm sure she was scared most of the time but she made our summers so idyllic.
This is lovely, Susan, full of great detail as always, wonderful products lovingly used.

Beautiful mixed media design for Linda, I love your collage, twine and flowers, I love the vintage feeling of this beauty, I'm lucky because I've still got my mother, for a very longtime I considered my mother as my best friend, we've got loads of things we both like and we've got also the same health issues, when something goes wrong I could say, it's not my fault, my mother made me like this...LOL, but during the last 4 years my mother started getting weaker and disabled needing help to walk and to see (she's got macula) I hope I can go to Holland soon to meet her there, unfortunately she isn't able to come to my son's wedding.
My mother would love your card Susan.

Birds, flowers, script in the background - so many things to love here as well as your beautiful flowers. And what a lovely quote with so much truth in it, too.
My mother, although she had asthma all her life from early childhood, TB in her teens leading to chronic chest problems (even as a child I remember pneumonia being a regular event, but she says we were great and always played together happily while she was sick in bed), a heart attack in her early sixties always kept a positive spirit and believed that life would be good. She taught me to knit, sew, and cook, loved music and reading. Greek myths and legends including Hawthorne's Tanglewood Tales might not have been everyone's bedtime stories, but they are the ones that I most remember her reading to us.
Beautiful card and lovely sentiment! I lost my mother 2 years ago and yes, life goes on. I miss her daily, especially when I pull one of her beloved stamp sets out or receive a new SU catalog. We used to chat about papercrafts and stamping all of the time and discuss the new catalog. Mom was a stamper for the last 20 years. I have much of her stamp room in my house and use what I can. She would like it that way. I have a scrapbook of her cards that were sent to someone in my house so when I need inspiration, I look through her cards and something usually catches my eye. Those are my recent memories. Mom would have found inspiration from your card!

What a wonderful collage card for Linda, this is, Susan. That quote is perfect for Linda. I like the print you added to the Sizzix flower! I wrote a bit on my post about my Mum.

I'm so glad to be your neighbor, my 3000 mile friend. I love this beautiful card and the Gandi quote is just the best truth, brings tears to my eyes. I lost my mom when I was 37, but we shared some of the best times. I loved that we moved across the country to Victorville, CA when I was in the 3rd grade and the kids from oHIo had snow suits to play in the snow when it snowed 2 feet overnight! And, it melted away the next day. The entire city was shut down, but we were outside loving it. She was present for the births of five of her grandchildren, being the head nurse in Labor & Delivery. She was my inspiration to become a nurse, going to the same nursing school.
Anyway, I love your card and I'm sure Linda will too. TFS

I think I have that 7Gyspies paper...it's awesome and works well for a collage. Your attention to detail is on full display here...with the clear embossed bits on the flowers and the gem cuff link on the pointing hand (love)...A memory I have of my mother...she was in a bridge club (in the 60s) and I loved watching her get ready to go out and play bridge with her gal friends...she'd pull out all the stops with her clothes, jewelry, perfume... I do remember that her favorite perfumes were Chanel No 5 and Toujours Moi. Thanks for getting me to remember that Susan..

Your card is stunning as well as touching with that wonderful quote from Gandi. Truer words have not been spoken. I love the bg your created/personalized for those wonderful blooms. As has been said, your eye for detail is exquisite. My mom and me were complete opposites: me day girl/her nights; me outdoors girl/her indoors; me country music/ her jazz; me assertive/her reserved. And, she was the kindest, most generous and sweetest person you could ever hope to meet and we loved each other dearly. I was blessed to be able to call her Mother.

Your card is so soothing, Susan. Love the vintage mix of lovelies, all balanced so nicely. My Mom always wanted a little girl, and had 3 miscarriages trying to get me. We were best friends from day one. Her mother died from the flu pandemic from 100 years ago so my mom was in an orphanage for 8 1/2 years until her dad remarried. How she learned to mother me, so well, is astonishing.

Oh my goodness I love that quote. I am blessed to still have my mother with me and my husband's mother living with us. I fear the day they are no longer with me but I know that God has a plan. Beautiful layers and colors and a terrific card to send to Linda. She is going to love all the work you put in to this card.
