I chose to do the brick wall for the WCW because I had a slim line stencil. I traced it in pencil, used masking fluid around the bricks, then splashed and splattered on paint. Finally, I just added a little graphite pencil at the bottoms of the bricks. It took longer to trace and mask than to paint, super easy. I will do the other walls also, I really enjoyed this.
For the F4A today, I don't have any grads in my life at this time so I chose to do a 'congratulations on your new home' card. I know several people who have finally been able to purchase their first home. Prices are very high here and there is a shortage of affordable homes. I still remember how I felt about my first home of my own. I moved from my parent's home to my married home and it felt so good to have something of our own. And let's face it, grads of high school and college are probably going to move to their new 'homes' too, whatever they might be.
I wasn't as brave as some of the WCW artists who painted windows and buildings. Here I thought I was so clever to do a window...many of us were that clever, it turns out. I love the gallery for this week's WCW! Well done, everyone.

Smiled when you mentioned having to give this a little thought before doing it. I feel that half the fun is thinking and planning a card or painting. You really made the brick look real....like the hint about the graphite pencil for the shadow. Your added die cut window looks great with the wall. You mentioned the art gallery in Door County. I'm familiar with it. We have our own little art center in the small village of Denmark. The artist is Molly Johnson. Here is a link to it

Good job on your brick wall...you must have had some patience to do all the masking. I like your window and I know what you mean about having your own house....I like spending time with others but appreciate my time when I come home.

You really did a fab job with that brick. I can imagine it did take some time. And, your window and flower dies look great against it. A super card for someone buying a new house. You'll have to show us the other walls if you do them.

You nailed the look of the old brownstone buildings! (or at least the ones I saw YEARS ago when I visited in NYC.) I am envisioning a steep staircase leading to the front door off to the right of that window.

Your wall is really realistic! I didn't realize it was water colored until I read your description. I haven't done the WCW challenge for this week yet. Guess I had better get with it. The sentiment is about how I feel around my house sometimes when DH forgets to put his hearing aids in. Love this card and the slimline profile.
