Today's watercolor challenge is to paint a rock wall - now that is one thing El Paso has plenty of!! You can find them made of River rock, slate, concrete blocks, and of course the 6 ft high wind break walls required by law around every property. These are made of rough hewn quarry blocks and it's what I tried to paint today. I Think it took me longer to paint this than it would take a mason to build one here!
Going to try to attach a link to the wall between me and my neighbors house that this is loosely based on. Real El Paso wall

Your rock wall is fantastic and I believe you when you say it was time consuming. You do know things worthwhile may take longer and this is just an example. Beautiful scene you created.

Your stone wall is SO well done, Linda. A relaxing scene with the view into the distance. You mentioned Texas, but I've seen such walls in Maine(new England) where they used the rock that was taken out of the fields to make them arable or blasting for a building foundation.

Took a peek at the picture of the wall you recreated. They really are thick and high. Your painted wall gives the feel of the heavy stone, and amazed how you did the curve. Like how you added other elements that we have been doing to create the scene. Always wait to see your creations. TFS

I learned something new today, which is always a good thing....wind break walls. No idea why these are necessary in El Paso but they look beautiful. I favd this, Linda, I think you did an exceptional job at your curved wall. I could use a wind break wall here. My house sits higher than than any house around me and I can't tell you how the wind whips around here. And I feel like it's getting more windy all the time.
