Here is my card for Teapot Tuesday. My lattice is a paper braided panel backed with white. Hard to see in the photo but the flowers have an iridescent sheen and the dots are glittery.
My mother did beautiful drawn thread embroidery work (google it if you are not familiar with this craft) and my mother-in-law loved gardening so the lattice brought both of them to mind. Both of them passed away too young and my way of dealing with the loss has been to carry on some of the traditions, especially food related. I've also looked for other women to mentor me in their absence.
So many things can make Mother's Day difficult. Things like the loss of a mother or child, infertility, difficult relationships or unmet expectations. Years ago I chose to celebrate each Mother's Day by honoring not only my mother and mother-in-law but also my children who have been such a source of joy. This card will go to my daughter who really is an amazing woman.
To Linda: I admire your creativity and participation in the Teapot Tuesday challenges. I'm glad Dr. Sonja has stepped in to be your new stamping buddy and though I know you miss your mother, I hope you can find joy in remembering her. I think you are pretty amazing.

This is gorgeous! I love how you incorporated memories of both your mother and MIL in this. I can see the sheen on the flowers..so pretty. I appreciate the words you wrote about mothers.... I lost my mom when I was 25 after a long illness and it had a profound impact. After that my dad got 2 Father's Days, one in May and one in June.

Oh, I can see the pearly sheen on the flowers and it's beautiful. I am familiar with drawn thread-work. I think some of the older stitchcraft hobbies should be revived. Yep, I think food is definitely a way of keeping a heritage alive. My sister still likes me to make the traditional French Yule Log cake for Christmas Eve (except last year we weren't able to meet up) which my mother always used to make.

Yep, I can see the sheen on the flowers too and I love how you have them peeking out of that sweet trellis. Lovely card. And your write-up is beautiful. I remember you saying something similar about the Wonder (and wonderful) Woman in your life a few weeks back. I am sure those woman think you are a super woman too.

amazing. The lattice panel is awesome. I have been making a few cards with the same panel but off to one side.. I need to try a panel like this as it really tops off a card ! Fabulous job !
