This was such a fun challenge today - Thank you Susan for taking us to The Sylvia Beach Hotel. I started with a tour of the hotel finding the first few rooms I visited a bit staid & boring. Then I stumbled upon the Agatha Christie Room and knew this was where I was meant to be with it's teals, burgundy's and hidden objects! Agatha was one of the first authors I read from one end of the shelf to the other at the public library ( I have since done that with dozens and dozens more). I sponged my amber, pinks & orange over a white panel then applied milled lavender through the crackle stencil. I layered that with the TH diamond corner (homemade stencil) in Peacock Feathers and sponged shadows on the edges with Frayed Burlap. I stamped the Umbrella man, who reminds me of Hercules Poirot with his bowler hat, and a variety of objects which may or may not hold clues to the story unfolding here today. Stamped and watercolored the stack of books and hand wrote the title of the mystery.

Love love this Linda and Fav'd. Agatha Christie was one of my first authors too and I still have some of her books. We went to Egypt many years ago and visited the Cataract Hotel where she stayed and had High Tea on the terrace overlooking the Nile. I sat there thinking of her writing her book Death on The Nile. TFS Happy day

I love your take on Agatha Christie, Linda! The colors, textures and patterns are a feast to the eyes - I think the term is "eye candy"! I also like how you "wrote" a 3-part mystery novel - that is clever!

So. very. well. brought. to. life, Linda! Love the prespective from where the umbrella man is standing. Pondering the time and his next step...almost as if he is on the edge of a precipice. The vines and feathers frame the whole scene as well. Have you read the Secret of the Tickle??? I hear it's a blockbuster!

How fun...especially the books touting the Secret of the Tickle...hmm..wonder what it is. Your guy does remind me of Poirot! Great bg with stenciling and all the stamped clues.

This is beautiful, Linda. I really like the contrast of the umbrella man silhouette with your absolutely amazing stencilled and stamped background. I too have made a couple of mine own stencils from those dies - and occasionally I think of making an umbrella man stamp from foam, as I have the Bigz. But it wouldn't have that scripty texture in the original stamp.
Weren't libraries such treasure troves! We belonged to two when we were growing up, the local one within walking distance, and one belonging to the Royal Dublin Society which my parents were members of. It was about 20 miles away, so visits were rarer. And it's funny, I was just saying to someone in church, who used to be one of the librarians in my home-town one, how small it looks to me now whenever I walk past, but as a child it seemed vast!
