Another fun watercolor challenge. Come and join us. This gal painted both of her cards in 5 minutes. I'm not sure that included the drying time - mine took longer. But these were fun. I am happier with the dragonfly than I am with the butterfly. I sketched the butterfly first and I think I may have been better off not sketching it in. Trying another butterfly later to see if not sketching will make it a little more free flowing. I'll find someone to send these to though.

I really like the green and blue shades on your dragonfly, Pat. You pretty much aced that painting. I also love the texture you achieved with the purples on the butterfly, and since you had originally penciled it, there was no need for the fine black pen. I think you've done well on both challenges!

These both turned out very nicely, Pat. Beautifully formed wings on that dragonfly and the blue and green sheer wash of color is so pretty. I saw your comment about purple not being a REAL butterfly color - well here in the high desert, I have seen butterflies in that pink /purple tone you used here. - They tend to gravitate to things like purple thistle and blue flax (when that was in my garden) so I always had to look twice to see if it was a butterfly or flower waving in the breeze.

Pat, these are both beautiful and I love the colors of both. Sometimes, I sketch and sometimes not. I didn't on my butterfly and my dragonfly went to the trash bin. I think anyone would love receiving these beauties.

Beautiful, Pat. The loose painting is wonderful. I did sketch mine lightly so the both wings of the butterfly would be compatible. Applause for free handing both of them. Smiling here that you came to join us this week. TFS
Both of your paintings are gorgeous! I love the colors and splatters. They are light and express flight! Beautifully done! I really should try the dragonfly!
