I first created a blank "canvas" in Photoshop, & moved the image onto that. I resized the image to fit on the canvas background layer. I used the "Worstveld Sling Bold" font on my computer for the greeting. I typed each word on a separate layer, and then used the move tool to position them, snugged together in the space below the flower.
I used my Prismacolor pencils to color the boy & flower. I decided to go for basically a complementary color scheme with his clothes, so colored the shirt orange & his pants like blue jeans. I likewise used the complementary colors of yellow & purple for the flower.
I cut a panel of patterned paper & matted it with blue cardstock (to tie in to the color in the jeans) for the background on my card. I added a green cardstock strip to run behind the image panel, as per the sketch. To help the image panel look more finished, I added a narrow grey mat to the 2 sides & bottom. I adhered that to my card front, & mounted the finished front to a white card base.
