This birthday card was made for TGIF Challenge #310 which required the use of the three Stampin' Up! (SU) colors Pool Party, Blushing Bride, and Flirty Flamingo.
I thought this color combination would be good for an undersea card, so chose to use the SU "Friends Are Like Seashells" bundle of stamps, die and embossing folder. Being restricted to just three colors (plus neutrals) made finding the pattern paper that featured both the light blue AND had an undersea theme, but settled on the retired 2013 "Sycamore Street" because it has a wave-like pattern in it.
The white embossed panel is 2-1/2" wide and the pattern paper is 1-1/2" wide.
I started out by cutting a 4-1/4"x 5-1/2" panel from all three colors, then spritzed them with a small spritzer to which I had put several drops of shimmer paint, then filled with water. This gave each a shimmer sheen. I helped them dry by using my heat tool.
Once they were dry, I stamped the seashell images on all three colors, then die cut all three with the matching die, and then finally embossed with the matching embossing folder.
I chose which which shells I liked best for my layout, then cut them out of the die cut using small paper snips. This ended up being the large shell stamped with Flirty Flamingo on Blushing Bride, the long blue shell stamped on Pool Party cardstock with Pool Party ink, and the tiny scallop shell stamped on Flirty Flamingo with Flirty Flamingo ink. The seaweed on the lower right was cut from the Blushing Bride die cut.
The sentiment piece was stamped on white with black ink, then die cut using a "Stitched Shapes" die. The blue scallop mat was cut using a "Layering Ovals" die.
I ended up gluing all the pieces on except the blue shell and little scallop. These I attached with pieces of foam tape to raise them up for added dimension.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "3" out of a possible "5". The stamp/die/embossing folder made this card much easier than it looks at first glance, but does require some coordination to get all the details right.
This card would probably work best for a lady, but could also work for the right guy in your life.
