This was my first attempt at painting hollyhocks - I did a second one which quickly made me realize the first was better after all - lol - So my memories of real hollyhocks are from over 50 years ago. I do remember that the trumpet is made up of 5 tightly overlapping petals and trying to get that look did not come easy. I struggled with the simplest things like flicking in the darker lines and veins in the leaves
I am way out of my comfort zone today but will survive to try watercoloring again next Wednesday.

Oh, I cannot tell you struggled one bit. I love how you made the opened, closed, and just opening blooms. Beautiful work and I love that you have it framed. See you next week.

Oh goodness these are beautiful....natural flowing and like how you captured the perspective of the blooms is amazing. The bottom one is so perfect with the bell shape and the depth of it . This picture looks wonderful in the frame. You are only missing one thing...you need to sign this original done by you. Glad you came this week, and happy we will see you next week.
