I like to buy washi tape, but I have not used it very often so far. Therefore, I chose this theme from the online workshop of Altenew Academy "3D Floral Focus" by Therese Calvird. Therese used both design paper and washi tape adhered to paper to die cut the 3D flowers, which creates great effects.Instead of design paper, I used yupo paper colored with alcohol inks and I adhered the washi tape onto the yupo paper before die cutting the leaves.
For the 3D flowers I used the "Open Bloom" die set from Altenew. The layering guide, which comes with the dies, makes it very easy to see which of the die cuts should have approximately the same color. This helped me a lot when placing the dies on the colored yupo paper (see picture). Likewise, in the layering guide you can see the sequence in which you should glue the individual pieces together.
For card 1 I used the Altenew washi tape "Golden Stream". This washi tape is almost transparent between the gold stripes, so the green color from yupo paper shows through. I wiped the background with the Altenew stencil "Sphere" and Distress Ink âTattered Roseâ using a blender brush. The sentiment is from the Altenew stamp set "Bergenia Builder". I arranged the two flowers and the leaves and adhered them to the background.
For card 2 I wanted to use a washi tape with letters and numbers. The flower is in shades of blue, as is the yupo paper for the leaves. However, this washi tape from AALL includes red accents, so I made another red accent out of red mirror cardstock using the "Linear Crossroads" cover die for the background. The sentiment is from the "Flower Vine" stamp set.
If you too have washi tapes waiting to be used, I highly recommend trying this technique.
