For the background, I colored sections with gelatos, then lightly brushed gesso wash over them, which really smooths them out. If you used full strength gesso, it gives a much softer look, but I wanted the colors bright. Once that was dry, I sponged gesso wash through a stencil, making a very subtle pattern. The flower and leaves were in my stash. The butterflies are colored with a sponge dauber

Oh I love the bright colors on your card Melody. The blue and orange work great together I never would have thought to combine those. Now I need to look at how I can use them on a card.
