I'm a pretty content person so there aren't a lot of places I'd rather be than home, especially if I can be with family. If I am going on a trip, I love the anticipation and the planning, sometimes more than the actual trip. But where I'd really like to be is going on the Lake Express Ferry (or Amtrak this time of year) to visit my brother in Holland Michigan. I haven't been there in almost two years because of the pandemic and while they've come to Wisconsin, they've usually been up north and we can't be together. The ferry is especially fun at night....as you go out on the lake, you can look back at the lights of Milwaukee and see the stars and moon on a clear night. You want a clear night because if there is any kind of weather going on, it will be a bumpy and nauseous ride.
I was playing around with a new way to make an ai background. Mindy Eggen posted a video using waxed paper on top of your ai substrate to move the inks around. What you do is drop some Pearl alcohol inks on your Yupo or Graphix, two or three colors is good, lay a piece of wax paper on top and squish. If you use your finger tips or even your finger nails, you can create patterns. I used the first background I made, with some blue inks, stamped the HB border wave in the teal, added some silver Stickles, stamped my little paper boat and sentiment in the juniper mist ink and glued on a little snail I found in a lake somewhere. I don't think there are any snails in Lake Michigan. Even if I was visiting in Holland right now, the lake would be so interesting to see. The wind and changes of the water create ice balls that bob on the lake, some three feet across. This is also for today's F4A: the color of water. I guess the color of water is often dependent on the color of the sky. However, the lake my sister lives on has reddish water because of tamarack trees that grow around it. It doesn't stain though, thankfully. I'm sorry for Jeanne and all others in Texas and other southern areas who are dealing with the terrible conditions. We take water and electricity for granted until we don't have it. The only time we ever lose power up here in WI in the winter is if we have an ice storm and that hasn't happened for decades. Knock on wood.

Love the added touch of the snail. Not sure I want to be in that boat I would probably get sea sick. Love the way you described how you created this pretty card.

FABULOUS...love your creative process in how this card evolved! Water technique...such great results...love your "shell" (We do have lots of snails and slugs here in the northwest!). I love your "ferry" and was interested to hear it was a stamp. I was envisioning a handmade, fussy cutting business...such an interesting look and great in the abstract-looking card!

Oh, I would gladly join you there, Jean. On the water is a lovely tranquil place to be, though I hear you on the nauseous if it's not the best weather! Lovely card - makes me smile.
