This card was made for a challenge that included a sketch, and an optional theme of butterflies.

As soon as I saw butterflies were a possibility, I got out my Stampin' Up! (SU) "Botanical Butterflies" Designer Series Paper (DSP). There are TONS of butterflies on this beautiful paper set! I chose the black & white butterfly pattern for the right side of the card, and then had the idea to make the card a gatefold. Another sheet of the papers are several sizes and colors of butterflies, so I used my digital cutting machine to scan the sheet, and cut out a predominately orange one, and a purple one. I had the machine cut right on the outline of the butterflies so that none of the blue background color would show.

I used my scoring tool to score a folding line on either side of each butterfly's body so I could fold up the wings for dimension. Using a rolled up piece of Mini Glue Dot, I adhered just the body of each butterfly to the right gatefold panel.

I reserved the left panel of the card for the greeting, which is from SU "Jar of Love". These were stamped on white cardstock using black ink. Then the sentiment was die cut using an oval die, and mat was cut using a scalloped oval die from an orange cardstock that matched the top butterfly's wings.

The sentiment oval was attached only to the left panel using adhesive foam strips to raise it up for dimension in line with the 3D butterflies.

I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5". Even if you don't have a digital cutting machine, the butterflies should be easy to fussy cut with paper snips.
