I made this for Jean's TLC challenge today, which you can find HERE
I knew I'd tried this before - because DonnaJeanne sweetly sent me some coffee filters a couple of years ago, but it was hiding out in a VSN gallery so no wonder I didn't see it in the Technique Spotlight. The coffee filters normally available here (unless you're in catering) are cone-shaped and small and would certainly not work for this technique.
I made three pieces; the other two are still sitting on my desk.
* the tutorial suggests a glue stick. Not something I have - they tend to go rock-hard before I'm halfway through using them. I used a very thin spread of Tombow Mono Multi and that worked perfectly. (Last time I used Mod Podge and that worked well too). I was even able, carefully, to trim the card-front size piece down without tearing the filter, and sponge round the edge with Wild Honey (the tie-dye piece was wild honey, crushed olive and some smears from my other pieces. I added a couple of old Prima flowers and some punched foliage. Image is Deep Red "Birthday Cat", sponged while in the die and coloured with Polychromos pencils. I added a few sequins to finish it off. Birthday cards are always useful.

I didn't have a glue stick neither and used tacky glue, just a fine layer and it worked too, I love your happy Spring design, the yellow makes me think about Sun rays!! Cute image

What a COOL tie-dye background!!! LOVE this yellow/golden color--neat how you have several shades within this one piece and it all flows together so well, SO beautiful!!! To me, the tie-dye IS the focal image, with the other elements supporting because it's just so wonderful, so rich, so beautiful!!! I've never tried it, this card is making me want to try... What a sweet stamped kitty image, neat that you've used only the same gold/yellow to color just slightly, man, does that work well to unify this with the background!
Your cards are so varied in style, I have such admiration for an artist who can create using so many different techniques and create each of them so well, I'm so impressed!!!
