This filmstrip card was made for Cut It Up Challenge #218 which required the use of a project using something representing viewing scenes or capturing views - camera, binoculars, glasses, microscope, telescope, magnifying glass, film, photo, etc. The challenge also requires the use of a die cut. I chose my Sizzix filmstrip die.
I wanted to convey the beauty of the passing of the seasons, so used my Stampin' Up! (SU) 2000 stamp set called "A Tree for all Seasons" that has a 1-3/8" square views of a tree for each season. I colored all for stamped images with Copic markers (I had to use a headband magnifier to see the tiny details while coloring.)
I then used a pencil to trace each filmstrip opening onto the four images, and trimmed them a tiny bit wider and longer than the opening so I could glue them onto the back of the filmstrip. To give the card more dimension, I die cut an additional two filmstrips and glued them to the back.
The sentiment is from the SU "Colorful Seasons" stamp set. This was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
The two punched designs in the diagonal corners were added to add more interest to the background. Note they have square holes just like the filmstrip!.
I am rating the difficulty level for this card as a "2" out of a possible "5", assuming you already are a good colorer. Believe me when I say it took MUCH longer for me to color these tiny images than to assemble the whole rest of the card!!!
