I love the title of this video for the challenge today. "Easy watercolor winter scene" - Easy for some maybe. I don't think of it as easy. I find this stressful to some degree, but I do enjoy doing it. If I don't compare it to the video or to the other challenge participants, then I can look at my painting and say ok I made a winter scene. When I can actually think about why I am painting shadows where I am then I might feel better about it. Can't wait for the next one .

Thank you, Pat, for expressing your feelings about learning to watercolor! I can apply those thoughts to myself. That said, though, I love your wintery card. Those blues and lavenders are just lovely together.

My feelings exactly , Pat ! I'm never sure where to put the shadows -especially on snow and usually just trust to dumb, blind luck. So far it's worked pretty good. You did a great job on your snow scene and I applaud everyone who was brave enough to add people in their scene. Your got a lot of depth to your painting and beautiful perspective of distance with the way the pathway narrows toward the horizon.

Yes you did, and a very remarkable one. Smiling here....I tried making the people, and immediately changed my course, and added trees. Hats off to your ability to paint them so well. Like the cool purples and blues you used. Gives it the feel of winter. Watching the videos gives us an example of how that artist paints. Many times they are working on a larger canvas than an A2 card size. Thanks for coming and playing this week, and sharing your lovely painting.

Pat, this is a beautiful painting and I love your shadowing. The people look so real. I think that was the hardest part for me. You did a great job and made a wonderful scene.

You have done a fabulous job with this Pat. Love the shadows in the snow and along the fence. The light in this case is coming from the sky over the hill, which is why the shadows are facing downward. In many cases you can decide where you want the light coming from, as that would determine your shadows. Like in the blue video, the light is coming from the left, hence the large shadow in the snow. Make sense? Hope this helps. And, your people are fabulous - a great card.
This is gorgeous! You did a great job with your perspective! Lovely colors! Ha, I agree, I would not have called either video easy! But it's so fun to try and learn! I am like you, I can't wait for the next one! Occasionally, I am surprised and find something easier than I expected but this one was more challenging than I expected.

I thought the same thing about that title "Easy Winter Scene". HA! Good one. It was scary, but look how brave you were to put the people in. I chickened out. What I think is the most fascinating about watercolor is watching all those seemingly random blobs of color fall into something realistic looking. Beautiful job with your scene, Pat!
