This is the 32nd of approximately 50 hand-stitched cards I made in an 18-month period, 44 of these were given as a large set to my Mom, who is a master cross-stitcher. This one was one of my favorites of the 50, and I was absolutely THRILLED when I found out that my Mom sent this card to a longtime family friend for her 90th birthday. The family could not have the celebration they wanted to have for this dear lady's 90th due to the pandemic, so they asked for cards, and I was so pleased that my Mom chose this one that I really loved for her birthday celebration. Very sadly, this wonderful lady unexpectedly became very ill a couple of weeks after her 90th birthday and she passed away. I look forward to seeing her and her husband again someday in God's perfect timing.
I used a large die from Simon Says Stamp called Debra, to me it looks like a snowflake, so it was cut with some 110-pound white cardstock and then I used a Crafter's Companion sparkle brush pen and covered the whole surface with it, unfortunately that doesn't show in this photo. I chose a bright rainbow-colored stripes hand-stitched pattern to really highlight the sparkly snowflake die-cut and I think that it worked well. For the sentiment, I chose a very chunky and large Happy Birthday die from Anna Griffin and cut out navy fun-foam to add more dimension to this card. I kept the embossing simple and not to take away from the rainbow and the showflake, so I embossed in red some vertical stripes. The envelope is a metallic gold (A7), I found some on sale at Joann's and I wish that I had found LOTS more, as it's extremely difficult to find beautiful, colored A7 envelopes of this quality. I embossed the elegant rectangle flap with a Cuttlebug embossing folder that simulates the look of stitching. Definitely one of my favorites of this group of 50 hand-stitched cards, not THE favorite but it's in the top two!
Thanks so much for taking a closer look at my hand-stitched card! When you leave a comment on my card or someone else's card, know that you are making that artist's day!
Do be safe and well especially at this time.
Best wishes,
Joanne

Two of my favorite things on one card..a rainbow and a snowflake...this is wonderful, so full of texture (including the envelope). I'm sure this brought joy to your family friend in her final days..
