This card was created for a card sketch challenge with an optional sympathy theme.
I recently got the the new Stampin' Up! (SU) "Friends Are Like Seashells". and was really excited about using the matching stamps and dies. Using gray ink, I stamped two sand dollars, three sea stars, and two sea scallops. Then hand colored each using Copic markers. Each were cut out with their matching dies. Afterwards, I turned each upside down on a foam mouse pad, and used a stylus to hand shape the sand dollars, stars and shells to have 3D shapes.
The card front was created by putting both the light blue and white panels through my Big Shot inside the SU "Seaside" embossing folder. The sand dollars, sea stars and shells were backed with foam tape to help them maintain their 3D shape and attached to the blue embossed panel. Then I glued the embossed white and blue panels together, and wrapped jute twine around them three times and tied a bow. The two panels were then glued to the SU Crumb Cake card base.
The final step was to add the sentiment. I stamped the sentiment with SU Crumb Cake ink on white cardstock, then die cut it out using the SU "Stitched Nested Labels" die. The blue mat was created by die cutting another label out that was the next size larger. These two were glued together, then glued to the card front.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5". The hardest part was to color the shells. Their matching dies made it easy to cut them out.
