We are going East while creating sympathy cards for Paul. There is a radio segment on BBC Radio 4 at 6 in the morning called Tweet of the Day. Nothing to do with Twitter, is real birdsong and some information about the birds. On a recent morning it just happened to be Mandarin ducks, and the presenter was saying that in the East they are often used as a symbol of marriage, a little like swans here.
Image stamped on white card and coloured whilst talking to Jean ;-). Add the sentiment, and matted it onto a layer of navy embossed with a brocade folder and buffed with a copper metallic rub-on.

This is a fabulous image and so beautifully colored - for me it would be SO hard to keep the hen her realistic mousy brown while letting the drake flaunt his more vibrant tones. I can just imagine Paul sitting by the waters edge and letting his cares and heartache float away with the flow of the waters.

Your coloring is fabulous. Beautiful scene and serene scene you have created. Love the embossing on the navy panel. I like what Linda said. I hope this helps Paul let his heartaches float away with the waters.
I love that you have a BBC broadcast that does bird calls. What a great way to start the day. Bird songs are so different and so many of them so happy. Cool to learn about the symbolic meaning for Mandarin ducks too.

What a beautiful, peaceful scene this is. A wonderful card to send to Paul. Beautiful colouring of the little ducks. No need for a radio show here - the magpies start singing around 4.30am - followed by the chirping of all the little birds - and when its time to get up - the shrill squawking of the cockatoos when they arrive for a drink. After all that - you are wide awake! Mother Nature’s Alarm Clock.
