MMTPT652 Oriental
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: snietje

I've made this card for Lisa's oriental challenge, but once finished I've found this too feminine to send to Paul, so I've send him another card, I've die cut the black and canson layers, sponged the canson directly with inkpads, stamped the blossom and colored with white posca, I was thinking Oriental, more Marocco, Tunesia...not Asian.
The orange base is hand cut to make the die cuts fit, it's not perfect but hand made doesn't need to be perfect isn't it?

Seems like we have had a few conversations lately about the concept of gender in card design. When I viewed your card the darker colors evoked a somber tone to me. The lone butterfly a touch of hope. I think conveying sympathy and compassion is not gendered, neither is beauty, and your card expresses all that and more.

This reminds me of those beautiful screen dividers that are placed in a large room, most of them are oriental, at least the ones I've seen. So Pretty, Anita, and hand made doesn't have to perfect! I don't think men would object to flowers, and this card has beautiful deep rich shades of color for either gender~

Men love flowers too, like my brother, Bill, did. I so admire this lovely creation. Asian design features a lot of floral and nature motifs. I love the darker colors, the shading, just everything.

This is so pretty, Anita, and silk screen dividers seem to be part of the oriental culture whether Asian, Mongol, Moroccan - all the eastern cultures tend to use these for both practical and aesthetic reasons. Like others before me, I too see this as appropriate for both genders. I like how you kept a universal theme with just color variations across the panels.

Your screen divider card is absolutely beautiful, Anita.
Nope, handmade doesn't have to be perfect, and I've often hand-cut layers to match a decorative die. I think the rich warm colours would have been fine for Paul - but the swallow card was lovely too.

Your screen is fabulous, Anita! Can be used for a male or female as well. TFS
