This card was made for an occasion when you need to cheer a friend up. When you pull on the slider tab, a message appears that says "no matter what".
The inspiration for this card came from a sketch card challenge that had five circles arrange on it. I thought it would be great for a slider card.
The hexagons were stamped in black on white cardstock, then punched out. I punched out an additional two hexagons for each stamped image and glued them as a stack to make each image raised above the card surface.
To create the window was a bit of a challenge since the hexagon punch wouldn't fit on the yellow card panel in the orientation to match the other hexagons I'd glued on (don't you just hate it when this happens!!!). So I turned to my Brother Canvas Workspace software and created a hexagon that was sized the same as the stamped ones, and digitally placed the hexagon shape on my cutting mat just where I needed it to make the opening. I thought a black frame would work nicely, too, so created a slightly larger offset (0.15") and subtracted the original from the offset to make a frame. I cut this out of black cardstock on my ScanNCut as well. It worked great!
To create the slider, I used adhesive foam strips to create a "channel" I wanted the slider to move in horizontally, then cut a strip of white cardstock wide enough to fill the hexagon opening, and about 1/4" longer than the card width (to allow space for a "slide me!" stamp). I used a pencil to lightly trace the opening for the bee so I would know where to stamp him, and then another hexagon for where I needed to stamp the hidden sentiment.
I then stamped the bee, and colored him with yellow and light blue Copic markers, and then stamped the sentiment "no matter what" in the hidden hexagon.
I finished the card by putting adhesive foam strips all around the outside edges of the yellow panel, then attached it to the black card base (which was 1/4" narrower than the standard 4-1/4" to allow it to fit into an A2 envelope with the tab extending beyond the card edge).
I am rating the difficulty of this card as a "4" out of a possible "5" because of the need to use a digital cutting machine, and the careful cutting of the slider tab and arrangement of foam strips to create a slider stop and channel. This card took me over 2 hours to make, so that contributes to the difficulty level as well.
