Made this card for my Chemo Angel partner for Valentines Day. I wanted it to have a Valentine theme, but didn't want it to be a "love" type of card.
This card was inspired by two different card challenges,,, one had a sketch (which I followed exactly), and the second had a "recipe 3-2-1" theme which required the use of 3 embellishments (the 3 enamel dots), two pattern papers (the pink floral and brown floral papers), and 1 stamped image (the heart).
Having used two pattern papers from Stampin' Up! (SU) "All My Love" Designer Series Paper (DSP), I didn't want to clutter up the card with a lot of extra details. So the plain three enamel dots in the same color as the pink paper seemed sufficient.
The heart was created from a 1998 SU stamp set called "Ornate Ornaments". I embossed the heart with white embossing powder onto pink paper, then hand trimmed around it leaving a small border of pink. Then mounted that onto a pinkish-red cardstock, and trimmed around that also leaving a small border of the darker color. Finally, I mounted this onto pink again and trimmed again leaving a small border. This pickup up on the colors in the pink floral paper, and raised the heart up above the card panel surface for added depth.
I didn't want to sentiment to be overwhelming, so chose to emboss it in white as well. The card base is a simple light green to pick up on the same shade of green in the pink floral panel.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5".
