This is the 30th of approximately 50 hand-stitched cards I made in about an 18-month period, and I gave 44 of these as a large set to my Mom, who is an amazing, very talented cross-stitcher, who I am so happy that she was thrilled with this gift of love I made for her. In the past, I hadn't thought that she was all that enthusiastic about cards I would make for her, but when she saw this big box of 44 of an assortment of A2 and A7 cards for all occasions--birthday, get well, congratulations, praying for you, baby, she was really pleased and that made all of the work hand-stitching each focal point for each card and making all of the cards MORE than worth it. I'm sure that she liked the previous cards I had given to her, it's just that she saw that for these, I had gone to a lot of trouble to make cards that were just for her and I had taken on learning a skill I didn't have before, hand-stitching, but of course I'm very much a beginner.
I owe much to Jennifer McGuire, as it was because of watching her YouTube tutorial on introducing a hand-stitching die (now there are a number out there from different companies, this first YouTube used a hand-stitching die from Paper Smooches that is no longer available, as that company is no longer in business, I believe), plus she introduced hand-stitching in general to me. I have watched my Mom do stitching for years, and I learned a few small details, but it took watching this video to start getting into this style of card-making and I really enjoy hand-stitching, and I heartily agree with Jennifer McGuire that it's extremely relaxing to stitch, and I will do it often while watching a movie or a series or while watching a tutorial, or even while talking to a friend online via video or the phone.
What I would LOVE is if Jennifer McGuire did a video or more videos on creating stitching patterns, because she does some beautiful ones and I would like to learn how to do that somehow, my next stitching goal! I am extremely grateful to Jennifer McGuire!
I enjoyed creating a few of these simple backgrounds where I did a chevron-like pattern, using a different color for each part of the "v" in each row and tried using brighter colors in the mix. I have a limited number of colors and shades I can use with the floss I use for these hand-stitched pieces, and I do wish that I had access to more colors.
Thank you so much for taking a closer look at my hand-stitched card! When you leave a comment on my card or anyone else's card that you find interesting or informative in some way, you will make that card-making artist's day. I know that when I receive a comment on one of my cards that it absolutely makes my day, and so I try to leave comments on cards that knock my socks off or cards that I think are really neat when I am on the SCS gallery because I want to be someone who encourages others, but what I say is absolutely what I think.
DO stay safe and healthy, especially during this very unusual and difficult time in our world!
Best wishes,
Joanne
