Last week I made a blue and white flower card for the Inspiration Challenge. And, this week I have made another blue and white flower card for the Inspiration Challenge. Only nine days into the year and I think I'm already in a rut...LOL.
But, I love the clean look of white with hints of dark colors like this inspiration picture of a condo in Toronto featured on this week's inspiration site Canadian Living: https://www.pinterest.ca/pin/206180489175815991/
When I saw this I also thought the circle of the lamp could be a heart and the with the lovely green hydrangea sprig it seemed perfect for the Free For All theme too.
I made this card twice because I really was not happy with the first attempt (the top, lighter blue card). On the first card, I heat embossed the SS stamp with pearl white ep on the bg panel and the flowers. I used just the die cut of the flowers; ink blended the flower; and colored the stem. After I assembled the card it looked so plain that I added white Nuvo drops and then more drops and then more. And finally added the sentiment, which helped immensely but it was still blah. As it turned out, some of the Nuvo drops smeared and I couldn't salvage them, so this card is headed no where.
On the second card, I stamped the SS bg stamp in gray ink and embossed with the pearl white again. It was too bright so I covered it with gesso to tone it down. I stamped the flower image then embossed the SS bg stamp onto the petals and colored the stems. I wanted a darker blue more similar to the inspiration picture so I pulled out Faded Jeans and ink blended the flowers. Decided to move the heart to the back, which I think looks much better.
On both cards, I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and then ink blended. I stacked four pieces of card stock behind the bg panel and then adhered to a white bazzill card base.
While I am much happier with the second card, I think my favorite would have been stamped white on white bg on the first card with the stamped and darker blue flowers and layout of the second card. I do hope this very long explanation is helpful.
And, I hope your day is filled with hearts and flowers. TFL.

Two gorgeous cards, Debbie. I'm sorry the drops smeared as it looks beautiful from my view. I hate when those things happen. And, the other card has some of those beautiful flowers you sent me when I had my accident. I made one card from them and still have some to make another and I love them.

How can you say you're in a rut? Both, beautiful. Love the clean look of blue and white. You took these up a notch with the gorgeous design, the heat embossing...so unique! Pinned this set of beauties!

Wow! I love both cards! They are so beautifully done! I love the heart die-cut paired with the flowers! The flowers look so pretty with the scripture text! Beautiful card.
