Mary is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week. She has given us a beautiful palette to work with: Pretty Peacock, Pear Pizzazz and Soft Seafoam. The dessert option this week is "Anything Goes." My dessert is splatters.
I couldn't let Christmas slip by without trying The Poinsettia by Tim Holtz. I used watercolor paper and a Pretty Peacock reinker to color the poinsettia, using a very loose technique, not worrying about where the shading went or whether I stayed inside the lines. I used the wet-on-wet technique and just let the (diluted) color go where it wanted to. When it was dry, I fussy cut it out.
The music and script were stamped randomly on the Soft Seafoam with Pear Pizzazz ink, and the edge was sponged with Walnut Stain Distress Oxide ink. I stamped the greeting and splatters with VersaMark ink, and then heat embossed with gold embossing powder. (I'm sorry the gold doesn't show its shine in the photo; today is a particularly gray, gloomy day in Seattle.)
I glued the flower in place, backed that layer with foam tape and adhered to a Pear Pizzazz base card.
I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and best wishes for a brighter, healthier year in 2021. I hope you can find time to play in the Color Challenge this week; we'd love to see your creations.
