So the site is wonky today....no WCW that I've been able to find, sketch challenge seems to be functioning but there was no sketch or gallery button in Pat's post, I only found it by searching for the gallery. I'm assuming upgrading is the issue? If there is something I don't know, please tell me.
On to my card: this is for yesterday's tea party for Judy. I originally going to try to incorporate some Rhode Island info but in the end, the flowers can stand for the state flower, which is the violet. Wisconsin's state flower is the wood violet, not sure if that is the same as RI.
I'm also including Misti's VSN-inspiration. I used the fourth photo, the cover of the Natural Life catalog. I think not stressing is 'keeping it simple.' I happen to have the catalog with that picture on the cover so I may put some of it inside the card. I bought the die set because it reminded me of my step grandma, who painted those vases of the lady's head, eyes closed, looked just like this. I was fascinated with them as a child, even though they're pretty kitschy. I cut the flowers from scraps from my stash (ai scraps, various other mediums). The border trim was a RAK from a teapot tickle exchange, can't remember who sent it to me. The background was done by creating an alcohol ink background with various dots of color and then lifting the ink onto white cs. They're fun to do and create some really pretty, soft backgrounds. You can do multiples, they just get softer and softer and you still have the ai background, also softer.

Love this card. The face reminds me of vases I have seen at craft shows -- probably like the ones your step grandma painted. Love the flowers, the happy colors, the bright trim and most of all the sentiment. Good advice for all of us. Fabulously fun card for Judy.

Oh Jean, I love your card! I had a couple of those (vintage, even then) lady head with hat vases when I was a kid--one even had dangling pearl earrings!--and I thought of them as soon as I saw your cool card. Your ai background tip is genius--going to try that soonest!

What a fun die - and I love her floral headdress, especially on that pretty, soft background. Did you use a stamp to lift the ink from the initial background to the white card? Yes, you're right - the upgrade went wrong. Bet you're glad it wasn't a day you were hosting the TLC .
