This festive holiday card was made for a card challenge that required the use of die cutting with the theme of "wrap it up". I chose to make a gate-fold card with a belly band as the "wrap" feature.
The card base is a standard 8-1/2"x 5-1/2" navy blue cardstock that was scored and folded at 2-1/2" from is short side to create the gate-fold.
I then used the Stampin' Up! (SU) snowflake border die from the SU "Swirly Snowflakes" die set to cut a pair of snowflake borders from glitter paper. These were then glued to each flap of the gate-fold, and trimmed at the sides and top/bottom edges using Tombow glue. I then cut a 1"x9" rectangle from the glitter paper and wrapped it loosely around the card so it could easily slide on and off. I attached the two ends together with super sticky tape (Scor-Tape) since I wanted it to stand up to being slid on and off without coming apart.
Because there was a small gap between the two folds where they met in the middle, I cut a thin strip of glitter paper and used Scor-Tape to attach it to one of the flaps so it would fit underneath the other flap when folded (don't glue it to both sides, just one!).
The final step was to create the center decoration for the belly band. I did this by cutting a 2" square of navy cardstock, then using a corner rounder to round it. Then using a snowflake die from the SU "Seasonal Layers" set, I diecut a single snowflake from the same glitter paper and glued it centered on the blue square.
For a sentiment, I die cut the word "peace" from silver mylar, plus 2 more from thick white cardstock and glued them together as a stack with the silver on top. This made the word stand out much better where I glued it on top of the silver snowflake.
I am rating the difficulty of this card as a "3" out of a possible "5" mostly because of the careful gluing you have to do for all the snowflakes.
I think it makes for a very festive holiday card!
