Linda pushed Dr. Sonja into another new technique. She wanted a truck for a male birthday and the layered gesso technique looked like a good idea. The card was built around the classic rusty truck stamp which lead to the blue and brown background colors.
Ended up going with the Colorbox pigment ink in black and yep, it takes a while to dry. Got a little impatient and saw the smudges when applying the light blue acrylic so slowed down and colored the truck with copics while waiting for the ink to dry. The stencil looks pretty good for tire tread and the glacier paste worked ok. The Nuvo mousse was a disappointment because an unopened jar in navy was nearly hard and a barely used jar in brown WAS hard. So, a metal palette knife became our friend to scrape and smudge. It did end up looking like rust, right down to the crumbly bits that finally gave up and got wedged out of the jar. I wish the manufacturer would provide appropriate jars to keep the stuff usable for more than one opening. The pot wax was bold color and the German wax was buttery even though it was probably the oldest and least used of the products on this project. Got to remember to pull it out more often.
Anyway, Linda got her truck birthday card and Dr. Sonja got messy and happy

Sonja did a great job creating a super masculine background for your requested truck. I like the dictionary page and the super rusty look. I know Sonja wasn't the only one finding that some of her pastes and rub-ons were dried out :-(.

Oh this is fun and I love how much your stencil looks like tire tread . . .makes me think a couple of the good ole boys have gone "mudding" through a shallow creek bed.
