Kia gave us a wonderful video on sketching and watercoloring a winter lantern. You can find it here:
Used a lightbox to softly sketch the latern from a digi onto the arches paper. Painted with the watercolors. Usually black gives me trouble, but not this time. Splattered some of the snow with the watered down gouache paint and using the tip of the brush painted the rest. Since my lantern is hanging, added the black line with a micron pen. TFL Hope you can join us and give this a try.

A beauty, Linda. I love the hanging lantern and considered making a hanging one. That red bow and holly is gorgeous, as is the sky.

You did a stunning job with your lantern. I racked my brain for a lantern stamp but I don't own one, or I would have used it! You did a beautiful job with your winter scene! I love the holly. It almost feels like the lantern is blowing gently in the snowy night!

Be still my heart - first super job sketching your digi and then maintaining all the highlights and lowlights in all your elements. I am particularly impressed with all those tiny square panes in your lantern and the fact that the background showing through is consistent across the image - I just know my panes ( if I tried this) would each be a different intensity of color.
