Iâm delighted to be a part of this weeks SCS Color Challenge. Karen is our host and the colors she chose are Pool Party, Poppy Parade, and Shaded Spruce.
To begin, I colored the snowman with colored pencils in shades of poppy red and spruce green. Gamsol was to help blend the shades together and to give a nice smooth finish. I squeezed a few dots of red Stickles on the holly berries on the brim of the cap. The sky was created with Distress Ink in a soft pool color.
To create the look of falling snow, I put a few drops of Perfect Pearls into some water, dipped a paint brush into it and randomly flicked the pearlized water onto the background. Iâm always a little nervous when I do the water flicking technique, but Iâm happy with the results.
âCuteâ is the dessert option. Since Iâm totally biased, I will leave it up to you to decide if I met the cute challenge!
Thanks for checking out my card. I hope you have a wonderful week and a happy Thanksgiving. Be sure to play along with us this week!

Your background is fabulous for your adorable snowman! He reminds me of the Charmin' tissue commercial when I was a kid, "so squeezably soft". Marianne... you've done an awesome job of fulfilling Karen's sweet challenge! TFS

You definitely get dessert! How adorable and yes, cute! Thank you for showing off how well the gambol technique works with colored pencils. I have been a little lazy in getting it out and using it, but now that I see your fabulous results, I'm definitely going to add that step! Your snowman is adorable!
