We are sending cards to Bill who is a book lover as so many of us are...-me too! Polly's challenge was all things book related. The words to Silent Night are on the banner and it most certainly can be found in a hymnbook. I decided to make a Christmas card for Bill, since coming from Canada this will take awhile to get to him anyways. I made a simple bookmark to enclose.
I have lots of books and recently came across an essay about culling your collection. I loved this quote: ""I have the curse (mental illness?) where if I open most any random page, it will say something 'profound' to me." Ha, that happens to me as well. So of course, then I don't want to let it go. I will get this in the mail to Bill on Friday. Thanks for looking.

We are weary, for sure and need that hope. I love O Holy Night, great choice. And I like the matching bookmark, the card with a detachable one crossed my mind but I had set my heart on the pop-up book.
I once culled quite a lot of books when we moved - and ended up buying quite a few of them again. Now I'm trying to build a collection of ones I know I will reread but don't care if it's a hard copy or e-book on my Kindle, which I bought for this year's summer holidays which never happened.

What a wonderfully festive design you have created. I love the various die cut frames. They compliment each other so well. That sentiment is beautiful and perfect for this time and season. And, so great to include the bookmark as a keepsake. Wonderful card Shirl. Sure to be enjoyed by Bill and his family.
And, yeah, I hate culling too. I can have something for YEARS and the moment I toss/donate it, I need that exact thing. How does that happen??? I say keep your books and keep on enjoying randomly opening pages and finding meaning in each one. Lucky you.
